Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk ran her undefeated record to 10-0 with a blistering third-round technical knockout win over Jessica Penne last weekend (Sat., June 20, 2015) in Berlin, Germany (watch the replay here).
Safe to say she dazzled a few fans (like this fellow champ).
She also caught the eye of Reebok, who has been known to scoop up UFC strawweights (example) and sign them to individual sponsorship deals. That means even more money from the sneaker and apparel giant, who takes over as the promotion's exclusive fight night sponsor in July.
"Reebok has consistently shown that fitness is truly demanding," Jedrzejczyk said in today's release. "I am pleased that together we can inspire women in Poland to train as fighters. I believe a training plan that involves MMA techniques is a sure way to being fit."
Considering the depth of the division, the more women fighters she can inspire, the better.
Unfortunately, it may be a few months before we see Jedrzejczyk back inside the cage. Her win over Penne also came with a broken thumb (pic), one that required surgery. In the meantime, the show must go on, and we could have her next challenger ready to go by the time she gets back.
