That didn't last very long.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Bellator MMA, and Strikeforce veteran Renato Sobral, who called it quits in June 2013 on the heels of back-to-back technical knockout losses, insisted he was "at peace" with his decision to retire from combat sports.
Guess not.
"Babalu" (37-11) will make his light heavyweight return against Swiss striker Volkan "Cousin" Oezdemir in the main event of Strength and Honor Championship (SHC) 11 on April 11, 2015, inside Leman Theatre in Geneva, according to a report from Ground and Pound (via Sherdog).
Sobral, 39, is just 2-4 dating back to late 2009 -- getting violently finished all four times -- and was released from his ZUFFA contract in 2007 after holding a submission wayyyy too long (trip down memory lane here). Oezdemir, meanwhile, is 11-1 with 10 finishes (nine of them in the stand up).
Anyone think this old dog can learn some new tricks?
