The dust has barely settled on UFC 183: "Silva vs. Diaz" from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which means it's time to honor those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights last night (Jan. 31, 2015).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who is heading home from "Sin City" with a little extra grease for their efforts.
This time around, Thiago Alves earned a "Performance of the Night" for his come-from-behind second round technical knockout of Jordan Mein, a nice bump for the former No. 1-ranked Welterweight contender who has been sidelined for essentially the last two years because of injuries.
"Fight of the Night" was awarded to Thales Leites vs. Tim Boetsch, which saw the Brazilian trade leather with "Barbarian" and then submit him in the second round after a back-and-forth bout. Leites also nabbed an extra "Performance of the Night" bonus for the fight-ending arm-triangle choke.
Here are the special UFC 183 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Thales Leites
Performance of the Night -- Thiago Alves
Fight of the Night -- Thales Leites vs. Tim Boetsch
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) makes that information available later this week.
