Myles Jury is dropping to featherweight, as promised.
Waiting to greet him at the upcoming UFC on FOX 17 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which is scheduled for Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., on Sat., Dec. 19, 2015, is longtime 145-pound veteran Charles Oliveira, according to a FOX Sports 1 report.
Jury (15-1) set the lightweight division ablaze with 15 straight wins, turning away fellow contender Michael Johnson in the process. A lopsided unanimous decision loss to Donald Cerrone earlier this year in Las Vegas, however, was enough to convince "The Fury" he was better suited for the featherweight class.
Unfortunately for him, the competition doesn't get any easier.
Oliveira (20-5) watched his four-fight win streak go up in smoke after he was stretchered in a bizarre fight against Max Holloway last August. "Do Bronx" suffered an injury to his esophagus and was unable to continue fighting after roughly 90 seconds inside the Octagon.
Now he's back with something to prove.
UFC on FOX 17 will be headlined by reigning lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, who defends his world title for the first time ever in a rematch against "Cowboy" Cerrone. Elsewhere on the FOX-televised fight card (see it), Nate Diaz returns to action against the aforementioned Johnson.
Best of all, it's free!
