Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Strawweight No. 1 contender Valerie Letourneau (8-3) will go toe-to-toe with current 115-pound champion and famed Muay Thai striker Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0) at UFC 193, which is set to take place inside Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on Nov. 14, 2015.
When the two collide in the center of the Octagon "Down Under," the Canadian has a "big surprise" for her Polish counterpart.
Letourneau, who aims to defy the odds and dethrone "Joanna Champion," is undefeated in UFC (3-0), most recently besting No. 10-ranked Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 74 last August.
One of her signature victories, however, came against former professional boxer and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 runner-up Jessica Rakoczy at the UFC 186 pay-per-view (PPV) in April.
"Trouble" survived a difficult and slow start, highlighted by a Rakoczy takedown and reversal. The 32-year-old Letourneau found herself in quite the predicament, after latching onto a deep triangle choke then an armbar, when "Ragin'" maneuvered out from the bottom and took over in top position.
Letourneau followed up round one with a focus on establishing her striking in the second frame, which included a pumping a blistering jab in the face of her fellow Canadian. Rakoczy, 38, was unable to fight her way inside and saw her left eye swole up due to the damage.
By the end of the second round, Rakoczy's left eye was closed shut.
The American Top Team (ATT) representative Letourneau showed up in round three targeting the body of Rakoczy with solid body and knee strikes.
Not the most overwhelming performance by a UFC title contender, but a win nonetheless.
