We know Jon Jones was doing his part to reach out to the youth long before the court mandated him to do so, but "Bones" is doing even more now that his probation is requiring him to.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion of the world was order to make 72 appearances to youth facilities as part of his probation sentence for his invovlement in a hit-and-run accident earlier this year.
And according to many who have seen his efforts firsthand, "Bones" is well on his way to complete his requirements in record time, visiting five locations on Thursday (Oct. 1, 2015) alone.
Based on comments obtained by TMZ by heads of several youth organizations around Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jones has been a welcome appearance during his visits.
And his message has resonated with the youth.
"His message to my team was simply awesome. His whole demeanor was great," said the head coach of Sandia Prep school. "These are young men, 8th grade to seniors in high school who really look up to him and I think they learned from this and appreciated Jon's visit. I appreciated it."
According to the coach, Jones advised students on avoiding the mistakes he made the nearly cost him his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
Don Ortega, head instructor at Gracie Barra New Mexico Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, had thisto say about Jon's visit.
"He talked about losing a lot of wrestling matches but setting hit goals high and working hard to achieve them."
As far as Jon's fighting career, that appears to still be on the backburner, as it's obvious "Bones" is focused on the current task at hand.
Once he fulfills his obligations, it's safe to assume the UFC will reinstate the former 205-pound kingpin and add him to their soon-to-be thinner roster.
