Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is perhaps best known for her undefeated record inside the cage, as well as her daily headlines in the mixed martial arts (MMA) media covering ... well, just about everything she does.
Like this.
That's the price of being the biggest star in the sport.
But that doesn't mean "Rowdy" has forgotten where she came from, and recently took the time to send a personal message to Steve Watts, the amateur fighter who was paralyzed from the neck down during his bout at the Cher-Ae Heights Casino last year in California.
"Hi Steve, my name's Ronda," Rousey said in the video (via LostCoastOutpost.com). "I stumbled across your story. A friend of mine sent it to me and I just wanted to wish you the best possible luck on your recovery. I can't possibly understand everything that you're going through, but if I've ever learned anything, it's that being in pursuit of a near impossible goal is one of the most rewarding endeavors that you can ever embark on."
Watts called the gesture "surreal."
Rousey will return to the Octagon at the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) event next month in Australia when she battles undefeated ex-boxer Holly Holm. In addition, the unblemished Olympian has several high-profile movie projects in the works for 2016.
