Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Louis Taylor replaces Costas Philippou, fights Uriah Hall on Jan. 18

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Louis Taylor is stepping up on short notice to take over for Costa Phillipou, who withdrew from the upcoming UFC Fight Night 59 mixed martial arts (MMA) event with a rib injury (more on that here).

MMA Fighting reported the change on Friday.

"Handgunz" (11-3), who recently won four straight fights with four finishes on the regional circuit, will face The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 runner-up Uriah Hall (9-4), who is currently riding a two-fight winning streak (and a surgically-repaired toe).

UFC Fight Night 59, which takes place later this month on FOX Sports 1 inside the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., will be headlined by a featherweight fracas pitting top 145-pound contender Conor McGregor opposite dangerous kickboxing veteran Dennis Siver, while Ben Henderson and Eddie Alvarez lock horns in a spectacular lightweight co-main event.
