Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced a stellar lightweight showdown for the upcoming UFC 185 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place on March 14, 2015, inside American Airlines Center in Dallas Texas.
Ross Pearson vs. Sam Stout.
Pearson (16-8, 1 NC) is looking to rebound from last November's technical knockout loss to fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) grad Al Iaquinta. When it comes to the official UFC rankings (see them here), the hot-and-cold "Real Deal" finds himself on the outside looking in.
Time to get something going.
Opposing him is another longtime MMA veteran in Stout (20-10-1), who continues to be consistently inconsistent. "Hands of Stone" has alternated wins and losses since June of 2011, most recently getting stopped by Strikeforce import KJ Noons last April.
Now or never.
UFC 185 will be headlined by Anthony Pettis, who looks to defend his 155-pound belt once again at the expense of top-ranked contender Rafael dos Anjos. In addition, Johny Hendricks vs. Matt Brown, as well as Alistair Overeem vs. Roy Nelson, are also planned for the PPV main card.
