Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Travis Browne is still learning how to fight.
So what was he doing in his previous 18 mixed martial arts (MMA) contests? Well, according to "Hapa," he knows how to get inside the cage and "mess somebody up," but as far as being a technical fighter, he's still got a long way to go. Especially after a recent "eye opener" with a well-known coach in "The Golden State."
From his conversation with Sherdog.com:
"I haven't trained [at Jackson's MMA] since my fight. I've been hitting mitts with Edmund (Tarverdyan) up in Glendale and I haven't been back to Albuquerque to train. So that's where I've been hitting mitts and working out a lot. Just figuring out what I need to do to further myself. I feel like I'm gonna go back to Jackson's to do my camps and stuff like that, but right now I'm working with Edmund. And who knows? At the end of the day, I might stay with Edmund and do a camp there. I'm gonna do what I need to do to go out there and win fights. Right now, working with Edmund, it's been an eye opener."
Interesting...
Browne (16-2) was able to string together three straight wins -- with three consecutive finishes -- before getting knocked around for five rounds by division number one contender Fabricio Werdum. The Hawaiian suffered multiple injuries in his April loss to "Vai Cavalo" (pic) and is slowly working his way back to full strength.
And when he gets there, it sounds like we could see Browne 2.0.
Be afraid.
