Jon Jones and the Bandwagon Fan Dilemma

Did you ever watch a Miami Heat game on TV before Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh teamed up there?

No? Guess what...no one did. No one attended their games, even in the playoffs.

Until "The Big Three" signed, with promises of multiple championships. Then, everyone wore a Heat jersey and everyone wanted tickets. Everyone was a "fan."

A Bandwagon Fan...the bane of all sports. The worst of the worst of all fans, and they are legion.

That type of behavior also lends itself to MMA, it appears.

Jon Jones is the LHW champ, having won decisively against several opponents so far. He's got a contract with NIKE, and another with Gatorade. High profile endorsements, right? In today's sports world, that can elevate an athlete's status beyond the field/cage/etc.

He's the type of athlete ALL bandwagon fans gravitate towards, and worship like an infallible god.

When he was crying like a bitch on a stretcher after Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson pulverized his face, they made excuses and prayed he would rebound. After all, the bandwagon was moving rather quickly at this point and jumping off appeared treacherous at such speeds.

They looked at the ground below, speeding by, and that survival instinct kicked it. "Maybe we will hang on to the bandwagon for awhile longer." they thought.

When he ducked a rematch with Gustafsson and chose a shorter, older fighter that was given no chance at victory, they argued that choosing Glover Texiera was a bad ass decision. Every word and every action pointed to Jones ducking, so sane people laughed and shook their heads in disbelief.

So, as everyone suspected, he won and the bandwagon fans completely forgot the huge beating The Mauler gave Jones. Cheers erupted..."He's back!!" While also forgetting that Jones was supposed to crush Glover in about 30 seconds, but never even came close to a finish through 5 rounds.

Jon Jones is now matched up with a beast in Daniel Cormier. A guy that mocks Jones, laughs at his BS, and genuinely shows no fear or awe. A confident Olympic-level wrestler that has destroyed much bigger fighters than Jones.

To put it bluntly...It's over for Jon Jones. He had two options left: fight Alexander Gustafsson, or fight Daniel Cormier. He can't beat either one. Injury forced The Mauler out, so the new LHW champ will be Daniel Cormier.

So here's the Dilemma I referred to in the title of this fanpost:

Do the Jones Bandwagon fans jump off feet first, shattering their chubby legs?

Do they try to do like a leaping roll and hope that it absorbs some of the impact?

Do they jump one at a time or do they panic and stampede?

Once he loses, it doesn't matter how fast that bandwagon is traveling, those bandwagon fans will empty that thing out in no time. It's over.
