The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division could be getting one of its brightest stars back later this year, as UFC Tonight is reporting that Chan Sung Jung could possibly make his return to the Octagon at the end of the year.
And likely there to welcome him will be The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 14 grad Akira Corassani.
"The Korean Zombie" has been out of action since August of 2013 after suffering a separated shoulder and broken orbital bone during his title fight against division champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also suffered a broken foot in the fight, but living up to his moniker, Jung kept coming until "Junior" put him down for the count in the fourth round.
Jung underwent surgery a few weeks later to take care of his shattered orbital and shoulder, and after more than a year on the sidelines, it seems the 145-pound standout is just about ready to get back into the swing of things.
And unlike Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant, who were unceremoniously taken off the rankings sheet for inactivity, Jung was allowed to keep his No. 6 spot, despite his absence from fighting.
As for Corassani, he was last seen "wobbling" Dustin Poirier at TUF: "Nations" Finale last April, though he was eventually knocked out by "The Diamond" in the second round.
Jung's return will definitely add some excitement to the talent-filled division, as the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) veteran has a knack for putting on entertaining fights inside the cage night in and night out.
It will likely also give this guy another target to badmouth.
