Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) asked Max Holloway to step in and fight Akira Corassani following an injury to Chan Sung Jung, which booted "Korean Zombie" from the upcoming UFC Fight Night 53 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Fight Pass on Oct. 4, 2014 at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.
The answer was "Yes."
Holloway (10-3) is fresh off a technical knockout victory over Clay Collard at last weekend's UFC Fight Night 49 event in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Turning away "Cassius" was the third win for "Blessed" in as many tries, as well as his third straight finish.
Conversely, Corassani (12-4) just saw his three-fight winning streak go up in smoke, following a technical knockout loss to Dustin Poirier at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Nations" Finale last April. To his credit, it was his first defeat since joining the promotion in late 2012.
Who ya' got?
Headlined by a welterweight contest pitting Gunnar Nelson opposite Rick Story, UFC Fight Night 53 also features a 170-pound bout between Nico Musoke and the venerable Alexander Yakovlev, while Niklas Backstrom and Mike Wilkinson hook 'em up in featherweight action.
