Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Lyoto Machida and his camp "love" the idea of fighting former Strikeforce 185-pound titleholder Luke Rockhold, and a new report from UFC Tonight suggests the possibility of a November showdown in Brazil.
But that could depend on what happens next month in Ledyard, Connecticut.
That's because Rockhold (12-2) prefers to fight the winner of Gegard Mousasi vs. Ronaldo Souza, who collide in the FOX Sports 1 main event of UFC Fight Night 50. Not only does it present a more "intriguing match up," it also pits the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) standout against an opponent coming off a win.
That's not to suggest that Machida (21-5) has tumbled down the division ladder. despite coming up short against Chris Weidman at UFC 175 last month in Las Vegas, Nevada, "The Dragon" has never looked better, and remains a force to be reckoned with at 185 pounds after notching wins over Mark Munoz and the aforementioned Mousasi.
This fight doing anything for ya?
