Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Tyron Woodley is hoping to get right back into the thick of things after taking over for the injured Hector Lombard, in a co-headlining showdown opposite fellow championship chaser Dong Hyun Kim at this weekend's (Sat., Aug. 23, 2014) UFC Fight Night 48 Fight Pass event in Macau, China.
Today, both fighters squared off at the UFC Fight Night 48 media day (via Anton Tabuena | Bloody Elbow):
Woodley (13-3) is looking to bounce back from a miserable effort against Rory MacDonald, in which he lost a lopsided unanimous decision at UFC 174 back in June. Taking this fight with just two months to prepare is not really "short notice," so to speak, but the quick turnaround could play a factor on fight night.
Kim (19-2-1), meanwhile, comes into this bout riding a four-fight win streak, and could be knocking on the door to a title shot should he notch a victory over the highly-ranked "Chosen One." The "Stun Gun" has been helping his own cause in recent fights, thanks to violent knockout finishes over Erick Silva and John Hathaway, the latter ending with a rare spinning back elbow.
