They said it couldn't be done.
"He's getting too old" ... "He lost a step" ... "He's been out of the game too long."
Well guess what haters, Brock Lesnar is BACK and has another prestigious title to add to his incredible list of athletic achievements. Not only did "The Beast Incarnate" win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) of the summer, he did it by pinning John Cena.
John-Fucking-Cena.
I know Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) wants Lesnar to come back, since he's the only fighter who can break one million PPV buys, but honestly, it probably can't afford him at this point. And I don't think there is much competition for him anyway, because once you win the WWE title, everything else is just a gold belt to be worn.
I'm trying not to get too maudlin here, but what an emotional night it has been for all of us.
And after everything that happened on Sunday (Aug. 17, 2014) inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, I'll bet Alistair Overeem is sorry he made that ridiculous callout back in February. "The Reem" challenged Lesnar to a rematch and how did Brock respond?
He pinned The Undertaker and broke the most coveted streak in all of sports, then came back and finished off the "Doctor of Thuganomics" to claim the WWE strap.
Crack open a can of suds, combat sports fans, because like they say in that Old Milwaukee commercial, it just doesn't get any better than this. And remember this moment when your grandchildren ask you, "Where were you the day Brock Lesnar made history ... yet again?"
Respect.
