Brad Tavares had a five-fight win streak snapped when he dropped a decision to Yoel Romero earlier this year. His first chance at getting back on the hog came tonight (Sat., Aug. 16, 2014) at UFC Fight Night 47 in Bangor, Maine against Tim Boetsch, himself somewhat desperate after losing three of his last four.
Tavares definitely had the appearance of a guy who wanted to rebound early on, opening up a cut on Boetsch's head with a sick elbow from the clinch up against the fence. "The Barbarian" responded by loading up and landing a big shot to regain some footing to close the first round.
In the second, Tavares controlled most of the round by pushing Boestch around. He was having his way, frustrating Tim, who was struggling to let his hands go.
Then they reset in the center and a hard left hook put Tavares flat on the mat. He got up and tried to run away but he was at the fence before he knew it. When he went to fade left, he inadvertently ended up positioning himself perfectly to run right into a hard right hand from Boetsch.
That was all she wrote.
Fun fun.
