Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight contender Miesha Tate has been keeping her eye on top lightweight slugger Donald Cerrone.
Stand down, Mr. Caraway.
"Cupcake" wanted to get a closer look at his representation, KHI Management Inc., owned by NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick. That's because "Cowboy" always seemed to get the best (or at least atypical) sponsors ahead of each fight. Turns out, the feelings of admiration were mutual.
Tate -- the first female to join KHI -- talks to FOX Sports:
"I can't believe this is coming together this far out from the fight. KHI is so on the ball. You can just tell the level of professionalism. I always wondered why Donald Cerrone's management was better than everyone else. KHI has everything I'm looking for in an agency."
She can now add Budweiser to her list of sponsors for UFC Fight Night 52.
Tate (14-5) returned to the win column with a unanimous decision win over Liz Carmouche at UFC on FOX 11 back in April. Prior to that, "Cupcake" dropped back-to-back losses to division champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 168 in Dec. 2013 and Cat Zingano via technical knockout at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale eight months earlier.
She will certainly have her hands full against the relatively unknown -- but dangerous -- Rin Nakai behind enemy lines next month in Japan, but the good news is, the after party will have plenty of beer.
