When Alistair Overeem split from the Blackzilians mixed martial arts (MMA) camp last year, his former teammates started voicing their displeasure at the bad habits he displayed during his time at the Florida-based camp.
From deliberately hurting sparring partners, to refusing to train with the actual team, Overeem wasn't exactly described as the ideal teammate by some of his past training partners.
Alistair, however, decided to take the high road and refused to engage in a war of words.
Among the few who spoke out against the heavyweight contender was Anthony Johnson, who said the striking Dutchman was solely focused on being "Team Alistair."
During a recent interview with MMA Roasted, Johnson was asked who he'd like to fight next, but was unwilling to call anyone out. When asked if he'd ever be willing to take on Alistair, a question that was posed after Johnson said his former training partner was at "negative zero" when it came to picking up the ladies, "Rumble" didn't hesitate to respond.
"I'll fight him at any weight."
Anthony knows a thing (or three) about fighting at different weight classes, as he has competed at welterweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.
Currently, "Rumble" is doing pretty well for himself at 205 pounds, where he's picked up two impressive wins inside the Octagon against Phil Davis and most recently Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC on FOX 12; flattening the longtime veteran in under a minute (video).
As for Overeem, a former light heavyweight himself, he's currently competing in the land of the giants where he is booked to face off against Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 50 on Sept. 5, 2014 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Leydard, Connecticut.
What say you, Maniacs, does an eventual showdown between these two heavy hitters interest you?
