Trainer: Ronda Rousey will knockout Cris Cyborg with one hand

USA TODAY Sports

Bold statement, but as the much-improved striker Ronda Rousey proved at UFC 175, her hands aren't to be ignored.

Ronda Rousey defended her Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight title for the fourth straight time this past weekend (Sat., July 5, 2014) in the co-main event of UFC 175 in Las Vegas, Nevada, obliterating Alexis Davis in a mere 16 seconds (recap).

In the first exchange, "Rowdy" clipped Davis with a straight right hand that dazed the jiu-jitsu black belt, and followed it up with a knee to the body as well as beautiful judo throw which lead to seven unanswered blows to the face, forcing a referee stoppage.

The impressive performance let the rest of the female division know that, aside from being on the lookout for her trademark armbar, they now have to worry about her improved striking thanks to her head trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan.

As for Rousey's next challenge, that's still up in the air, but Tarverdyan says he  would love to put "Rowdy" inside the Octagon against Cris Cyborg down the road. A fight that wouldn't end well for the former Strikeforce featherweight champion.

His words on a recent episode of The MMA Hour:

"Absolutely, I like that fight. I love that fight. Ronda knows that. I spoke to Ronda and I said, 'Ronda you will knock Cyborg out. Ronda knocks out 'Cyborg.' Even if she fights he with one hand, she beats her. That's what I believe. That's an exciting fight. I would love that fight. It's a great fight, yes. Cyborg is a swinger, she's tough and she'll let her hands go and she'll get into a fight with Ronda and that's exciting. But I believe in my fighters, they're the best in the world and I would love to see that fight and if they can make it happen, let her get off that what she's doing, make it fair and square, come down and they know where Ronda is. I think fans want to see that fight. They want to see an insane striker go up against a polished, precise striker."

The two women have long been involved in a war-of-words, but a fight between them has always been met with hurdles.

For starters, "Cyborg's" cut down to 135 pounds could be disastrous to her health. "Rowdy," just like her coach alluded to, wants to make sure Cris -- who tested positive for steroids back in 2012 -- is clean before an eventual showdown.

"Cyborg" -- who is still under contract with Invicta FC -- recently announced that she would attempt a test cut down to bantamweight in order to earn a UFC contract to settle her beef with Rousey and retire her while she's at it.

What say you Maniacs, can Ronda back up her trainer's words and knock out one of the most powerful and vicious female strikers in the sport?
