Penn vs. Edgar 3 live blog, Round 3

Penn was marked up and looking tired to start the round. Still, he was upright and moving forward while Edgar fired off punches that were landing clean. He followed that up with kicks that were doing the same.

Really, Frankie was just picking him apart. It looked a whole lot like the first two fights except worse.

As Penn looked more and more fatigued, Edgar pressed his foot even harder down on the gas pedal. He earned one of those embarrassing trip takedowns, coming down on top and absolutely destroying Penn.

Punch after punch after punch. An elbow opened up a cut and suddenly Penn was a bloody mess.

It was starting to get uncomfortable.

Finally, mercilessly, Herb Dean stepped in to stop it with Penn not properly answering punches.

FRANKIE EDGAR DEF. BJ PENN VIA TKO.

Penn vs. Edgar 3 live blog, Round 2

Penn was upright once again to start the second. Edgar was ducking in and out and landing blows as he moved in and out. He grabbed a single leg but let it go quickly.

"The Prodigy's" lack of offensive output was downright bizarre. He finally threw a combination that landed but Edgar was having far too much success when he was throwing.

Then, no different than the opening round, Frankie took an open opportunity and nabbed a takedown.

From top, he applied pressure with punches and posturing up. Kenny Florian wondered what the hell BJ was doing with his fight strategy, considering he was getting owned through two rounds.

Edgar started landing hard shots that very clearly did damage to Penn's face. He went from big punches to elbows and the crowd could tell there was blood in the water.

After the horn, it felt like only a matter of time.

Penn vs. Edgar 3 live blog, Round 1

Penn came out to the center eager to exchange. He was standing tall, far more upright than normal. Edgar worked his usual combinations, jumping in and out.

Color commentator Kenny Florian wondered if BJ wasn't hoping Frankie would shoot in o him for a takedown. He did just that and Penn immediately went to butterfly guard. Edgar stood up and threw kicks at the Hawaiian's legs.

When he came back down, it was right back to butterfly guard. Edgar couldn't find any openings on top, so he stood back up and kicked at his opponent's legs again.

Then he came back down and BJ tried to set up for a submission.

Nope.

Edgar got back up and Penn was content to kick at his legs from his back. Finally, with one minute left in the round, referee Herb Dean called for the stand up.

Frankie circled while "The Prodigy" came forward, pawing a jab. Edgar came right through it with a combination. Then another.

That was clearly Edgar's round.
