"Chris Weidman proved tonight that he is the real deal. He needed this Machida fight. Not just to prove to everybody that he is the man, but he never went five rounds before, he never been pushed before. You saw Machida hitting him with shots in that fourth round and Chris took everything and came back. I actually scored this fight 4-1 for Weidman."
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman looked "unbelievable" in the UFC 175 pay-per-view (PPV) headliner, which took place last Saturday night (July 6, 2014) inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. That's according to UFC President Dana White, who believes the "All American" is no longer competing under the cloud of consecutive wins over Anderson Silva, thanks to a five-round unanimous decision victory over Lyoto Machida (watch it again here). Up next? Maybe Vitor Belfort, maybe not, but there is certainly no shortage of hungry challengers.
