Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida live results, Round 5: UFC 175

Weidman tried to shoot in for a takedown early but Machida threw a leg kick. The challenger took control of the center of the cage as the champion was backed up and looking for an opening.

Weidman fired off with a right but Machida answered with a big left counter in response. The American failed on a takedown and Lyoto made him pay with punches on the way back up.

A hard right hand from the champ looked to stun "The Dragon". He continued throwing and landing shots, stealing back the momentum Machida nabbed in the fourth.

Instead of backing down, Machida came in and threw caution to the wind. He ate a hard elbow for his troubles, one that wobbled him and had him bleeding even worse. He didn't care. He was in the pocket for more.

Weidman stepped out and somehow mustered the energy to complete a takedown with under two minutes left in the round.

Weidman took Machida's back and flattened him out with 50 seconds remaining. Lyoto got out and managed to stand up with 30 seconds remaining.

That's all that was left for him to land that hail mary.

So he came in blasting with shots and shots and shots and shots but Weidman absorbed them all to get to the horn.
