Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones has been busted open in training camp, to the point where he required stitches, roughly two months out from his UFC 178 pay-per-view (PPV) showdown against Daniel Cormier on Sept. 27, 2014 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Bones" shared a video of his recent mishap on Instagram.
Ouch.
Double ouch.
I'm sure Jones will be disappointed if Cormier doesn't target the wound (based on this existing logic), which will surely be all healed up by fight night (but a bullseye nonetheless). How this affects the champ's sparring sessions -- if at all -- remains to be seen.
In the meantime, let's see how these folks react.
Cormier was a late replacement for Alexander Gustafsson, who tweaked his knee and was forced to withdraw from the 205-pound contest. "The Mauler" is not expected to miss a significant amount of time and will likely face the winner of "Jones vs. Cormier" in early 2015.
Assuming everyone can stay healthy.
