With Amir Sadollah's return confirmed for UFC Fight Night 53 not too long ago, a Light Heavyweight tilt is also now expected to take place on the main card that features home crowd favorite, Ilir Latifi.
Fresh off his knockout over Chris Dempsey at UFC Fight Night 46, Latifi will return to action to take on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debutant Jan Blachowicz in a 205-pound tussle, according to Kimura. The "Sledgehammer" is currently 2-1 in the organization, racking up two stoppage victories after making his debut on short notice in a losing effort against Gegard Mousasi (which took place in Stockholm.)
Blachowicz comes into this bout on a five-fight win streak, having defeated the likes of Goran Reljic, Houston Alexander and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW) promotion. The Polish fighter won the KSW Light Heavyweight tournament three times and held the promotion's division championship, too.
UFC Fight Night 53 takes place on Oct. 4, 2014, at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, broadcasting on UFC's digital network, Fight Pass. It marks the third time that the Las Vegas-based fight promotion invades the European country.
Other matches planned for the UFC Fight Night 53 main card include Sadollah vs. Nico Musoke and Niklas Backstrom vs. Mike Wilkinson, among others. Stay tuned for more updates regarding UFC Fight Night 53 in Stockholm.
