Well, it's not Sarah Kaufman, as requested, but it's probably the next best thing.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight number one contender, Sara McMann, will welcome undefeated Invicta FC champion Lauren Murphy to the Octagon when they hook 'em up at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 47 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Aug. 16, 2014, inside the 6,000 capacity Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, on FOX Sports 1.
UFC announced the pending match up on Thursday.
McMann (7-1) suffered the first defeat of her professional fighting career when Ronda Rousey creamed her with a liver shot in the main event of UFC 170 last February. The Olympic silver medalist, who also cut her teeth in Invicta FC, now stands at 1-1 under the UFC banner.
And the competition isn't getting any easier.
Murphy (8-0) has been running roughshod over the regional talent, capturing the Invicta FC bantamweight championship by turning away Miriam Nakamoto in late 2013. In addition to her perfect record, the Gracie Barra standout has six wins by way of knockout/technical knockout.
Who ya' got?
UFC Fight Night 47 will be headlined by light heavyweight rising stars Ryan Bader and Ovince St. Preux, who battle for a spot in the 205-pound title chase. Elsewhere on the card, Tim Boetsch throws hands opposite Brad Tavares, while Shawn Jordan jumps back into the fray to collide with Jack May at the network-televised event.
