Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight contender Urijah Faber will take on international veteran Masenori Kanehara at the UFC Fight Night 52: "Hunt vs. Nelson" mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Fight Pass, which is scheduled for Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 20, 2014, according to Fight Sport Asia (via FOX Sports).
It would have been Faber vs. Norifumi Yamamoto, but "Kid" was ruled ineligible following an injury.
Faber (31-7) is fresh off a submission win over Alex Caceres at the UFC 175 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nevada. Choking out "Bruce Leeroy" improved his Octagon record to 7-3, with "The California Kid" coming up short in a handful of title fights.
Kanehara (23-11-5) is coming off a disqualification loss to Toshiaki Kitada, after Kitada was launched from the ring (lolz) during their DEEP 66: "Impact" bantamweight bout back in April. The "loss" snapped a six-fight winning streak that included six finishes.
UFC Fight Night 52 will feature a main event between Japanese fan favorite, Mark Hunt, against fellow heavyweight heavy hitter, Roy Nelson. Elsewhere on the card, former women's bantamweight No. 1 contender Miesha Tate welcomes bug buddy Rin Nakai to the Octagon.
