Robbie Lawler defeated Matt Brown via unanimous decision in the main event of tonight's (Sat., July 26, 2014) UFC on Fox 12: "Lawler vs. Brown" network television broadcast from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. He did so by beating Brown in the punch in more rounds than Brown beat him to the punch, which sounds incredibly boring but was equally effective. Really, "Ruthless" used kicks to the body to slow "Immortal" down and weathered a storm or two to ensure the judges saw it his way when it came time to write those numbers down on that scorecard. In the end, the decision was, as mentioned, unanimous, and it solidified Lawler's status as the number two welterweight in the division, behind only Johny Hendricks. Yes, that's the man who last defeated Robbie and has been on the sidelines ever since, dealing with injury. The good news? When he returns, Lawler will be waiting for him in what should be a highly anticipated rematch. Right?
