Brown wasted no time working for a takedown to start the third round. He dipped in and snatched a single, working hard to complete it against the fence. The only problem was Lawler landed a big elbow that may have opened a cut in the process of all this.
Once they backed up, Robbie landed a hard left kick to the body.
Brown was backing off more here, perhaps pacing himself or wilting a bit under Lawler's pressure. Robbie was setting up for kicks and Brown was far too aware of it.
It may have made him gun shy.
Then, Robbie landed what appeared to be a low shot but the replay revealed it was a kick to the body that hurt Brown. The referee, John McCarthy, made a mistake but thankfully the bout restarted rather quickly.
Lawler landed a few more good shots but nothing that threatened to stop the bout or seemed to hurt Brown as badly as the body shot did.
