"I'm your Huckleberry."
If Donald Cerrone is looking for a fight, he found one in the form of lightweight contender Jorge Masvidal.
"Gamebred," who is currently booked to face Daron Cruickshank at this weekend's (Sat., July 26, 2014) UFC on FOX 12 event in San Jose, Calif., tells FOX Sports that he wouldn't mind stepping up to fill "Cowboy's" empty dance card.
His motive?
Kick some ass and make some easy money.
"Because I'll kick his ass. I want some easy money. He's pretty tough against other guys that ain't tough. I ain't trying to act like a bad ass, but punching and kicking is part of the game. He hits people and they just start breaking all of a sudden before he knocks them out. I want to get in there and show him what's up."
For Masvidal, a fight against a fearsome striker like "Cowboy" would be a battle to determine who is the toughest between the two talented lightweights.
His words:
"He's a tough dude. You have to be able to take a punch, you have to be able to give a punch. You gotta be mentally tough. I just think when it comes to getting into deeper waters, I think I'm way tougher than him and I can put out a lot more than he can."
Indeed, Cerrone has been on a tear as of late in the 155-pound division, racking up four straight stoppage wins since losing to Rafael dos Anjos back in 2013.
And after Khabib Nurmagomedov was forced out of their fight with an injury (details), which was scheduled to go down at UFC 178 on Sept. 27, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cerrone was forced to wait in the wings to see if another bout would be available for him to take.
Should "Gamebred" defeat Cruickshank inside "The Shark Tank," then "Cowboy" has not one, but two fighters who are willing to go toe-to-toe with him in "Sin City."
