Thiago Silva return fight set for Aug. 29 against Bellator veteran Mike Hayes

A press conference announcing the full card is expected later this month.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Thiago Silva has finally found an opponent for his return to mixed martial arts (MMA), taking on Mike Hayes at the Fight Time 20 event on Aug. 29, 2014, inside War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

MMA Fighting brought word of the pending battle earlier today.

Silva (16-3, 2 NC) hasn't seen action since huffing and puffing his way past Matt Hamill last October in Brazil. Probably because he was doing time after an arrest for assault, in a domestic violence case that continues to get stranger by the minute. The Brazilian is currently awaiting a court date for later this year.

But a man's gotta eat!

Welcoming him to the Fight Time promotion is Bellator veteran Mike Hayes (19-9-1), who continues to struggle on the international circuit. Despite a highlight-reel knockout over Jeff Monson back in November, "300" is just 1-5 over the last two years.

Elsewhere on the card, UFC veteran Mike Rio battles Frank Carrillo for the lightweight title, while Randy Barosso and Jason Soares hook 'em up for featherweight gold.
