The co-main event of today's (Sat., July 19, 2014) UFC Fight Night 46: "McGregor vs. Brandao" showcase on UFC Fight Pass from The O2 in Dublin, Ireland, featured Gunnar Nelson, undefeated in 13 career contests, against veteran fist flinger Zak Cummings, himself on a four-fight win streak.
The crowd was ridiculously hot for the former.
He rewarded them with a submission victory.
Gunnar had the right hand cocked and working early on. He may have been head hunting a bit but Cummings was allowing as much with minimal movement. In fact, he was standing in the pocket and looking to trade, firing off a left hand down the pipe.
Cummings, though he was struggling to figure Nelson out, nonetheless blitzed and bombed to close the first round.
Gunnar put the pressure on in the second and it paid off. It took some time but instead of working the stand up game he finally snagged a takedown, took Cummings' back, and forced him to tap with a rear-naked choke.
