UFC Fight Night 45 results: Joe Proctor knocks out Justin Salas

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

That was an impressive finish, but was it a bad stoppage?

The main card of tonight's (Wed., July 16, 2014) UFC Fight Night 45: "Cerrone vs. Miller" event at the Revel Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, featured former Ultimate Fighter contestant Joe Proctor looking to keep Justin Salas from starting a win streak.

He did just that.

It was a boxing match early on. Salas was leaping in with punches and while he found some success with that, Proctor found even more with counter shots. At some point he landed hard and lean with a left hand that opened a cut over his foe's right eye.

Salas, thought to be the better wrestler, attempted just two takedowns during the first round, failing on both. He did, however, put a nasty bump on the side of the former TUF guy's head, next to his ear.

It was nasty.

Salas blitzed early in the second and hit hard with knees and punches. He could not, however, get the finish, which would prove problematic not long after when he was clipped and Proctor's ensuing onslaught did finish the job.

The replay showed a sneaky left hook was what felled Salas, but the stoppage may or may not have been premature.

I'll let you Maniacs decide on that.
