Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) may not have a pay-per-view (PPV) event for a 145-pound title fight (because of this), but that hasn't stopped reigning champion Jose Aldo and top contender Chad Mendes from going to war online, arguing over supplements and nuts.
Conor McGregor is not impressed.
The "Notorious" featherweight returns to the cage this weekend at UFC Fight Night 46, where he looks to defend his No. 1 pound-for-pound ranking against Diego Brandao on Fight Pass. Following Saturday night's (July 19, 2014) contest, McGregor expects to put an end to both Aldo and Mendes.
"I don't believe that Aldo is running away, he defeated this guy before. Chad is an idiot to think that. But, to be honest, I don't care about what happens between them. Their time is coming to an end and my time is beginning. Nothing of what they do impresses me. They don't move like I move, don't fight like I fight. At long last, I'm not impressed. The UFC says that I'm the number 13 in the ranking, but it's from a typing mistake, I'm the number 1."
Talk is cheap.
Despite his early success, McGregor has yet to prove he can hang with a top 10-ranked fighter under the UFC umbrella (see the list here). In addition, the chatty Irishman is coming off major knee surgery as well as an extended layoff, two factors that could weigh against him when he faces Brandao.
Find out if he's as "Notorious" as he claims to be right here on fight night.
