"When I got to college, I wrestled for a head coach, a gentleman named Mark Schultz. Mark Schultz is one of the baddest men to ever walk this earth. He's a three-time world champion, Olympic gold medalist and he fought Rickson Gracie in a street fight for 44 minutes. He lost. He told me that nothing beats wrestling, except jiu-jitsu."-- Chael Sonnen
Metamoris may be the new kid on the block in the combat sports world, but this latest countdown video proves that the talented folks spearheading their marketing department are far from novices.
But, you probably already knew that.
Metamoris 4, which goes down on Aug. 9, 2014, in Los Angeles, Calif., features a headlining act that pits the recently-retired mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Chael Sonnen against one of the baddest grappler's in the world, Andre Galvao.
To celebrate the anticipation, the jiu-jitsu promotion today released its official countdown video.
The video shows a more sensitive side to "American Gangster," who talks about his love for competing, entertainment, his hometown, as well as his wife. Sonnen also discusses his plan to go from a no-belt having jiu-jitsu practitioner to a black belt, to the best in the world in three weeks time.
Also, dive into Galvao's camp as he prepares to face the former two-time UFC middleweight contender, which includes an impromptu grappling match against world champion J.T. Torres during a family picnic.
Metamoris 4 will also showcase current UFC heavyweight and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Josh Barnett, as he tries to muscle his way past two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) champion and former UFC middleweight Dean Lister.
