Here’s my top five Pound for Pound mixed martial artists of all time.
Randy Couture is a tough one for some, he has a few blemishes on his record but, two things to take into account overshadow this, his age & the fact that he was a UFC Champion in two weight divisions. Won his first UFC HW title at 34, again at 37 & went on to win the LHW title at 40. Returned to HW Div at 43 winning the title & ended his career against elite opposition aged 47.
Defending his MW strap 12 times & holding the UFC record of most consecutive wins (16), Anderson Silva’s record speaks for itself.
The Prodigy held two UFC belts, winning the LW & WW divisions. Incredibly he fought & was successful in four weight divisions, BJ Penn fought as heavy as MW, impressive for someone who is a natural FW.
Making his debut in June 15, 1997 Dan Henderson has gone on to win several tournaments/titles in MMA’s MW & LHW divisions, being victorious at the highest level into his early 40’s.
Fedor Emelianenko amassed a tremendous amount of wins in MMA’s HW Div’s. Never fighting in the UFC is the only question mark in one of MMA’s greatest HW’s remarkable career.
