There's an interesting lightweight battle brewing between Al Iaquinta and Rodrigo Damm for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 50 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1, which takes place on Sept. 5, 2014, inside Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.
Newsday announced the pairing on Saturday.
Iaquinta (8-3-1) saw his three fight winning streak go up in smoke when he was choked out by Mitch Clarke at the UFC 173 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in May. It was just the second loss for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 standout since joining the ZUFFA ranks back in 2012.
But his third by way of submission.
That could be problematic against a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt like Damm (12-7), who owns six taps across the course of his combat sports career. Like his opponent, Damm is also lookng to get back into the win column, having recently fallen to Rashid Magomedov (unanimous decision) earlier this year in Brazil.
Who ya' got?
UFC Fight Night 50 features the transplanted middleweight rematch between Gegard Mousasi vs. Ronaldo Souza in the main event of the evening, while Joe Lauzon is expected to make his Octagon return against Michael Chiesa in a fun lightweight scrap.
