Yoshihiro Akiyama is expected to make his sexy return to the Octagon against Kyle Noke at the UFC Fight Night 52: "Hunt vs. Nelson" mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Fight Pass, which is scheduled for Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 20, 2014.
MMA Junkie confirmed the bout was under consideration; however, nothing is finalized at this time.
Akiyama (13-5, 2 NC) hasn't competed since a unanimous decision loss to Jake Shields at UFC 144, which took place way back in February of 2012. The extended absence came on the heels of a ghastly four-fight losing streak and the clock is ticking on the soon to be 39-year-old "Sexyama."
Not that Noke has been lighting the world on fire.
The former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) coach has just one win across his last four fights, and has competed only once in the last two years, a unanimous decision loss to Patrick Cote back in April. Losing to "The Predator" dropped "KO" to 20-7 overall (4-3, UFC).
And he's headed into hostile territory.
UFC Fight Night 52 will feature a main event between Japanese fan favorite, Mark Hunt, against fellow heavyweight heavy hitter, Roy Nelson. Elsewhere on the card, former women's bantamweight No. 1 contender Miesha Tate welcomes bug buddy Rin Nakai to the Octagon.
