Gray Maynard will return to the Octagon after nearly eight months on the sidelines when he collides with struggling 155-pound Brazilian Fabricio Camoes at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 47 event on FOX Sports 1 from inside the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, on Aug. 16, 2014.
Their bout was originally scheduled for the "postponed" UFC 176 pay-per-view (PPV).
Maynard (11-3) has been riding the pine since last November, when he suffered a technical knockout loss to fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 veteran Nate Diaz. It was the second straight loss for "The Bully" and capped off a dismal run of 1-3-1 dating back to 2010.
Once considered the second best lightweight in the world, Maynard could be fighting to stay employed.
The same holds true for Camoes (14-8-1), who also came up short in his last two fights. After Melvin Guillard outworked him at UFC 148 in July 2012, "Morango" was submitted by Jim Miller (armbar) at the UFC 168 event last December. His Octagon record is 1-3-1.
And this is the Brazilian's second stint with ZUFFA.
UFC Fight Night 47 will be headlined by light heavyweight rising stars Ryan Bader and Ovince St. Preux, who battle for a spot in the 205-pound title chase. Elsewhere on the card, Tim Boetsch throws hands opposite Brad Tavares, while Shawn Jordan jumps back into the fray to collide with Jack May at the network-televised event.
