Brian Stann supports UFC/FOX decision to release Chael Sonnen: 'If first instinct is to lie or hide, you have serious flaws'

Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE

And according to the war veteran, Sonnen left his employers with "no choice."

If retired Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) attraction Chael Sonnen was hoping to get some love from his FOX friends after the network unceremoniously dumped him last night (June 30, 2014), he may have to lean on Kenny Florian or perhaps even Karyn Bryant.

He won't be getting much sympathy from fellow analyst Brian Stann.

Stann lost to Sonnen by way of submission in their middleweight fight at UFC 136.

What's interesting to note is the circumstances in which Stann retired from active competition. The "All American" lodged a complaint with the court of public opinion, stating that his health was in jeopardy because he was continually fighting opponents who he suspected were taking performance-enhancing drugs.

In addition to his Sonnen loss, Stann was knocked out by Wanderlei Silva in Japan.

"The Axe Murderer" was also in the headlines last month after he skipped town when Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) showed up unannounced to drug test him for UFC 175. Silva later admitted to taking a diuretic, but brushed off allegations that he was juicing.

You can understand why Stann may have a chip on his shoulder.
