Soon after Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Jose Aldo vowed to get payback on Team Alpha Male for what he deemed as disrespect toward former bantamweight champ Renan Barao, Chad Mendes fired right back.
Posting on his official Twitter account, "Money" clarified that he didn't know anything about the Instagram post that got "Junior" riled up, but did heed a warning toward the 145-pound champ, vowing to get some payback of his own.
The post that started it all (see it here) was a photo of a list of attendees for an upcoming Duane Ludwig Muay Thai seminar which had Barao's name on it. A light-hearted stab at the former champ after coughing up his 135-pound strap to Team Alpha Male member T.J. Dillashaw in the main event of UFC 173 (highlights).
Aldo, for one, didn't find it amusing and vowed to get vengeance for his teammate and Nova Uniao camp when he faces Mendes in the main event of UFC 176 on Aug. 2, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
He also said that if anyone should be signing up for classes it's Urijah Faber, seeing as how "The California Kid" hasn't had much luck against the Brazil-based camp. Despite not knowing anything about the Instagram post, "Money" makes it perfectly clear that Aldo's threat won't be taken lightly.
This title fight just got a heck of a lot more interesting.
