Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, has 12 fights in just under four years, dating back to her amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in August 2010, and will have No. 13 in less than two weeks.
It's time for a break.
Even when "Rowdy" isn't fighting, she's keeping herself busy outside of combat sports. The Olympian has been tearing up the silver screen with roles in Entourage and Expendables 3, among others, and tells the Great MMA Debate (via MMA Weekly) she needs to recharge her bantamweight batteries.
"I can't go forever, or I will end up burning the candle at both ends at some point. So I'm just going to beat Alexis, I'm going to promote this movie, and then I'm really going to take some time to rest a little bit. My version of taking a little bit of time to rest might be much different than Georges St. Pierre's, where he needs so long that he needs to give up his belt. I don't plan on taking that long of a break, long for me, which is probably like a month of doing something else. One month of just not training."
Rousey could, conceivably, return for the promotion's year-end show.
The one thing that could prevent her from taking an extended vacation, however, is Alexis Davis. The "Ally-Gator" will try to upset the apple cart in the co-main event of the UFC 175 pay-per-view (PPV) on July 5, 2014, inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
