I guess that Walmart gig isn't working out.
Retired Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Nick Diaz is back in the headlines, after showing his face at last weekend's (Sat., June 21, 2014) GLORY double-feature in Inglewood, Calif. (results here). That's where he ran into veteran reporter Loretta Hunt.
Ran into Nick Diaz last nite at Glory. Good mood. Said he hoped to be fighting again by new year; trying to work out contracts now— Loretta Hunt (@lorettahuntmma) June 22, 2014
Don't pop the bubbly just yet.
Diaz is notorious for teasing his comeback, despite UFC President Dana White's insistence that he continues to turn down fights. Probably because the former welterweight number one contender only wants to compete for the title, or mix it up with "big fights" in other divisions.
But six months is a long time in the fight game, especially considering how fast the wheels are turning each weekend (example). And if there is one thing we know for sure, contract negotiations between UFC and the Diaz Bros. are never a sure thing.
