While those in charge of promoting fights at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were busy calling Demetrious Johnson a top pound-for-pound fighter, Ali Bagautinov was looking for support anywhere he could find it for his quest to win the flyweight title at tonight's (June 14, 2014) UFC 174 pay-per-view (PPV) in Vancouver, Canada.
Because there wasn't a well educated soul around who felt strongly that he actually stood a chance against the 125-pound king.
And he didn't.
In the end, Johnson earned a unanimous decision victory (50-45, 50-45, and 50-45) after dominating the five round, 25-minute headlining bout in the "Great White North". He was too fast, too technical (as color commentator Joe Rogan was all too happy to tell you throughout the evening), and too strong a champion to give up his title so easily.
He has passed "The Puncher King's" test.
