Photos: Melvin Guillard smashes up his car, walks away unscathed

Seat belts FTW!

Horrific car wreck? Ain't no thang.

World Series of Fighting (WSOF) lightweight attraction Melvin Guillard was involved in a serious auto accident earlier this week while on the way to the local cineplex with his wife. Fortunately, "The Young Assassin" was able to walk away without any serious injuries.

Which is pretty remarkable, considering these Instagram pics:

A closer look ...

"We both so lucky to be alive today GOD was watching over us both yesterday! !!!!! He definitely got my attention."

Lucky indeed.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) said goodbye to the lightweight veteran and former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 2 standout, following a disappointing loss to Michael Johnson at the UFC Fight Night 37 event across the pond (more on that here).

But he wasn't out of work for long.

WSOF quickly scooped him up and slotted him for a fight against Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante" at the upcoming WSOF 11: "Gaethje vs. Newell" NBC-televised mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 5, 2014, inside Ocean Center in Daytona, Florida.

Guillard is still expected to compete, despite his recent car wreck.
