Health Nut Recipes: Smoothies


Hey there Maniacs! Are you a health nut like me? Are you always looking for new recipes to help you keep up with your workouts or just maintain your weight? Well I've got quick and easy recipes just for you, today's recipes are SMOOTHIES, because who doesn't love smoothies? (Don't answer that jerk in the back....)

We'll start with a smoothie that isn't usually considered a health nut's smoothie but with slight adjustments it can be made into one. A peanut butter, banana, and flax smoothie for the peanut butter banana fans.

PBananaFlax Smoothie:

  • 1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup vanilla fat-free yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ground golden flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced

Our next recipe is a favorite of mine that I often whip up before yoga!

The Lean Green:

  • 1/2 Cup Almond Milk
  • 1 well trimmed Avocado
  • 3 dry spinach leaves
  • 2 kiwis
  • 2 plantains sliced

Anyone a strawberry fan? I am, try this one for the days where you can't get that pep back in your step.

Strawberry Blitz:

  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/3 cup green grapes
  • 4 oz. almond milk
  • 1 banana sliced

Speaking up zip this next one my put a little more than pep in your step you might get a full speed Usain Bolt stride from one of these.

Bananinge Smoothie:

  • 1 banana sliced
  • 6 oz vanilla yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tbsp grated ginger

Papa We're in the Tropics, saving the best for last I make this one on days where I need not only to feel good physically but mentally as well there is always something so uplifting about the papaya fruit.

Papaya A YaYa:

  • 1 Papaya cut into cubes/chunks
  • 1 cup fat free yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh pineapples
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice
  • 1 tsp of coconut milk
  • 1 tsp ground flax seed
  • 1 full plantain
