Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to pay-per-view (PPV) this weekend (Sat., May 24, 2014) with its white hot Bantamweight champion, Renan Barao, who puts his 135-pound title -- and insane 22-fight mixed martial arts (MMA) win streak -- on the line against T.J. Dillashaw in the main event of UFC 173, which will emanate from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Light Heavyweight pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event is perhaps equally as intriguing, as Dan Henderson aims to hand undefeated top 205-pound contender, Daniel Cormier, his first-ever MMA loss.
All that and much, much more.

Round one: Dillashaw is yelling a lot. Barao is pacing, but otherwise calm and collected. He's in black, TJ in blue and Herb Dean is in it. Low kick from TJ and a couple punches from Barao. Uppercut from TJ doesn't land. Another leg kick does. He gets in a right, too. Barao glances on a high kick, so does TJ. Good low kicks for Dillashaw early. There's a nice uppercut that hits Renan solid. Barao with a low kick. TJ gets in a straight left. Barao counters a leg kick with a right to the mouth. TJ dancing well here and getting in and out from Barao's strikes. They trade leg kicks. HOLY BATSHIT DILLASHAW PLANTS BARAO WITH A RIGHT! He's on him trying to finish, Barao trying for a heel hook! Barao rolls and TJ is on his back going for the rear naked! Barao turns out of it and they're standing!
Round two: Well, well, well. We've got ourselves a fight, fellas. There's a nice right-left from Barao. Neither are clean, but they get in and land fairly well. Knee from the Baron as well. Grazing right from TJ. Another and Barao gets in a left. Another. Leg kick exchange. TJ gets in a right. TJ is bleeding freely from the right side of his head. They're both standing and throwing here. TJ tries a shot and Barao's 100% defense is intact. Ouchie. Low kick to the plastic and we've got a break in the action. TJ slips, but he's back up before Renan can capitalize. Barao boxing him well, but then TJ does a great job of slipping out. Two nice rights from TJ, while Barao gets in one of his own. Nice movement from TJ. Barao gets a nice combo in and TJ goes to the body.
Round three: I can't even type all the stuff they're throwing here. Nothing is really landing flush, so they're gonna keep throwing. TJ got a solid right in. Barao cautious here. TJ with a nice shuffle, shuffle, leg kick. Wow, Barao is getting hit over and over. That's like five solid punches in a row for TJ that got in clean. Body kick from the Brazilian. Nice angles from TJ and a right hand a couples seconds later. Left from Barao. Dillashaw launches a head kick that gets some dome. Straight left. Barao misses. He claims he got poked in the eye, but Herb missed it and they keep fighting. TJ tries for a takedown late but can't get it and settles for knees to the legs.
Round four: TJ immediately shoots, but can't get it and bails. Barao does finally look like he's slowing down. Left from TJ. Body kick and Barao fires back with a left. TJ comes forward swinging punches, but Barao backs up and doesn't throw. Straight left gets in clean from TJ. Jab. Left. Barao gets a right in. TJ doubles up on the left and gets one of them in solid. He dodges a spinning kick and gets into a clinch against the cage with Renan. Dirty boxing from both men. Mostly from Dillashaw. This is TJ's Frankie Edgar moment. He's dominated one of the very best in the same way that Frank did to Penn in their second fight. Barao slips on a kick and TJ tries for a guillotine before getting in on top of Barao. Renan going for a leg. TJ gets out into half guard and gets in some right elbows.
Round five: TJ with a leg kick. Left from Barao. Barao moving forward now. TJ dodges a kick and gets a knee to the liver. Same moment again and now he gets it. Hendo hip escapes back to half. Cormier with a right to the body. Cormier stands with an upkick coming in his direction. Back to the ground. North-South. Hendo threatened a leg lock and that let him get to his feet. Hendo is breathing heavy, but he's ready to throw. Cormier throws a right that misses. Hendo tries for a trip takedown, but Cormier stands.
Round two: Hendo with a jab and glances a big right. Cormier is tired of that chin check and shoots a single. Cormier trying for an Americana, but Hendo gets out of that. Cormier still on top and he gets in some elbows. Hendo rolls, but he can't get out from under the hippo-like top control of DC. Lefts from Cormier as Hendo is stuck defending only. Mount. Hip escape into half guard. DC is touching him over and over and not in a friendly way. Cormier is stuck to Hendo, no matter which way he goes. He's wearing him like a jacket. North-South, Hendo rolls and Cormier floats over.
Round three: Well, Dan is one takedown away from probably losing this fight. DC with two kicks and a shot and... holy shit, he just picked Hendo up and WWE pro wrasslin body slammed him. Hendo got up but DC chased him down and basically clotheslined Hendo down with a tackle. He gets on top of Hendo and yea, we're about three and a half minutes away from a decision win for DC. Mount. Escape. Cormier on top punching away on the side. Nothing but top control and lefts. I haven't seen this thorough a GSP'ing in years. Hendo's barely moving now. Cormier with a back mount and he's trying real hard for the RNC here. WOWIE Daniel Cormier gets the RNC with 67 seconds left in the fight! That's just the second submission win for Cormier in his career!

Jake finally throws a right, although it doesn't connect. Clinch and a break after a Lawler knee. Jake gets in a right that lands finally. Jab from Ellenberger. Body punch from Jake and a body kick from Lawler. They trade jabs. Jake with a punch to the gut.
Round two: Berger gets in a right, but Rob thuds a left. Trading from both men now. Lawler stuffs the takedown. 3-2 from Lawler and he got the 3 in. Despite Rogan's commentary, Jake has done a pretty good job avoiding any major power from Lawler. Ellenberger ducks under and manages to get a body lock. He gives it up, however, and tries for a high kick that doesn't connect. There's a left from Rob and a second. Straight from Ellenberger. Rob is getting that left in a lot. To the shock of no one, Jake is starting to slow down here. He wades forward and gets a left in. He backs off but then surges into a takedown. Lawler is actually laughing at him and he promptly turns on top of him. Front choke for a moment from Lawler and he bashes a knee into Ellenberger's chest. Lawler punching away with his left and Jake is trying to keep his head out of a dangerous position. They stand and Jake eats a knee. Big double leg from Ellenberger, but he doesn't get to do too much with it (just a couple punches) before Robbie monkeys his way up and is back standing. Left from Lawler.
Round three: Nice knee from Lawler as Jake stepped in. They are throwing HUGE here, as Ellenberger realizes that he needs a knockout to win. Couple of big rights get in clean for Jake and Robbie's just a bit unsteady. Rogan points out that Jake looks like he broke his right hand. Lawler with a good knee again. Yea, Joe nailed it - he's stopped throwing his right and is just pawing occasional lefts. He throws the right finally, but it doesn't land. Two lefts from Lawler. Great jab from Lawler and there's an enormous knee and a left from Lawler as Ellenberger concedes the fight.

Takeya shoots and Rivera goes for a guillotine. Mizugaki is on the wrong side of half guard and Rivera can't finish. Mizugaki postures but goes back to holding Rivera down. Rights from Mizugaki. Yves Lavigne is just kind of chilling, letting this slow struggle play out. Mizugaki has the back with one hook in and he's looking for the RNC. Neck crank for a bit to try and loosen up Francisco. Second hook is in now. Rivera survives.
Round three: Rivera with a body kick, but Mizugaki with a right. They're trading leather in the middle of the cage. Mizugaki is cut on his head, but they're pretty equal in landing good shots here. Mizugaki blasts a right straight up into Rivera's mouth at the same time that Rivera landed a low kick. Rivera is on his back now and Mizugaki dives into his guard. Light GNP from Mizugaki as he's working this round here. Two minutes left and Rivera is looking for both help from the ref and maybe even divine intervention. There's finally a "let's work!" from the ref. Even Joe Rogan is calling this part boring now. Lavigne ready to pounce with a minute left... and there we go. Last chance for Rivera. They tag each other a few times. Exciting standup, and it appears that Mizugaki's chin will remain uncracked. They stand and wang at the very end!
Final result: Takeya Mizugaki wins via decision (unanimous) - 30-27 x2, 29-28

Big right hand and a double-leg gets it to the ground. Krause rolls on top, however and is in half guard. Elbow in. Krause tries for a guillotine, but Varner gets top position. Varner with an elbow that opens up Krause. Varner is trying hard here. They stand. Varner gets in a punch, but his ankle is like... dislocated. Krause kicks him in it and he falls down again. It doesn't look like Varner's visibly hurt, but his left leg is almost flopping every time he picks it up. His corner might have to stop this after this round. Yea, Varner says his ankle's broken and it's over.
Final result: James Krause wins via Technical Knockout (injury) - 5:00 round 1

Trinaldo eats a bunch of punches before he can get out of it. Mount now for Chiesa and he's just plowing the Brazilian. Relentless GNP here from Chiesa. Punches, elbows, and they are raining down like the water from Niagara.Trinaldo manages to live to the bell, though.

Another slow start as Chiesa is trying to figure out his way in. Trinaldo is coming forward and Chiesa ducks for a takedown. Trinaldo grabs for a guillotine and now he jumps it. It looks pretty good, but Chiesa breaks the grip with his hands and now he's on top. Full guard. Chiesa stands and tries to pass, but gets his foot caught in there and Trinaldo is trying for a heel hook. Chiesa defends and steps over into half guard. Trinaldo is trying for deep half, but Chiesa defends and takes the free crucifix to get in about 20, 25 unanswered short left elbows. Pichel shoots and eats a knee on the way in. Vince powers through and hoists up NJ... and after a failed attempt, gets the slam. NJ promptly butt scoots to the cage and starts working his way vertical. Pichel with the wall and stall that eventually elicits a break from the ref. 145 lbs.: Aaron Phillips vs. Sam Sicilia
Round one: Yea...
Round two: Whelp, my internet wasn't working when I got home, so I missed the first round. I suck. Hi, everyone! We're (I'm) back with Sicilia dropping Phillips. Sam gets in a couple shots but gets reversed. He eats a bit and is threatened with a rear-naked, but he reverses and he's now on top with some light ground and pound. Phillips rolls and now Sam has the back and threatens with a RNC of his own. Phillips defends and again attempts to squirm out. Sicilia with an armbar attempt that Aaron gets out of and now he's on top. Once more Sicilia gets the reversal and now he's pounding on Phillips. He gets the back again and is hunting for the RNC with one hook in. He gets the second hook, but Aaron rotates away from the choke. Sam stays on top and immediately fires short lefts from the guard position. The round ends and I'll give that to Sam
Round three: Rogan gives it to Sam as well who takes down Phillips with about 25 seconds gone. Phillips throws up his legs for an armbar, but Sicilia defends easily. Sam's in the guard for a brief respite before posturing up and raining down punches. Sicilia passes to side control and is dropping elbows on Phillips. Lots of top control, some light GNP and Sam continuing working. Full guard reclaimed, but not much else. Half guard. Phillips stands, but only briefly. Sicilia is making it an ugly fight, but one that is going to win him the contest. Phillips stands, but eats a couple uppercuts for his trouble.
