The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): 'Brazil 3' Finale full poster pic for 'Miocic vs Maldonado' on May 31 in Brazil

The first of two UFC events to be held on May 31 (see the other here).

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will send Fabio Maldonado up to heavyweight for a battle against Stipe Miocic in the headlining act of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 3" Finale mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for the Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 31, 2014.

Miocic's original opponent, Junior dos Santos, was bounced from the FOX Sports 1/Fight Pass event with a hand injury.

Maldonado (21-6) rebounded from a three-fight losing skid to string together three consecutive wins. He was last seen abusing Gian Villante at the UFC Fight Night 38 event in Brazil, but "Caipira de Aco" hasn't registered a finish in nearly four years.

No time like the present.

Miocic (11-1), meanwhile, is in the midst of a two-fight win streak that includes decision victories over division veterans Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 161 and UFC on FOX 10, respectively. Of his six Octagon appearances, the Croatian-American has just one loss, a technical knockout courtesy of Stefan Struve back in Sept. 2012.

As expected, they'll take front and center on the official TUF: "Brazil 3" Finale poster.

Now for the American version.

Naturally, there's more to the story.

The whole purpose of this event is to identify the two top performers from the combat sports reality show, which means champions will be crowned in both the middleweight (185 pounds) and heavyweight divisions (265 pounds), depending on which combatants from Team Sonnen and Team Silva (more on that here) make it to the promised land.

And the "six-figure contract."
