Matt Brown and Erick Silva went to war last night (Sat., May 10, 2014) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 40, which took place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. "Immortal" was out to prove that he was indeed the better fighter even though odds makers had "Indio" the favorite heading into the Welterweight showdown. He was riding a six-fight win streak inside the division and performing in front of a hometown crowd, while Silva was eager to prove that he could actually topple a top-ranked fighter. He couldn't, as Brown took it to him for 12 insane minutes to score an awesome technical knockout win against the gutty and gritty Brazilian. With the win, it looks like Brown can now anticipate a more meaningful match up against the winner of Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Ellenberger later this month at UFC 173 or Rory MacDonald vs. Tyron Woodley, who compete in the UFC 174 main event next month in Vancouver, Canada. Even if neither bout comes to fruition, Brown made it clear that his is certainly in the 170-pound mix for the remainder of 2014 and beyond. WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT!!! Three, actually, or maybe it's five ... or seven. Whatever -- awesome fight.
