Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is letting Patrick Cummins start fresh with a full training camp when he takes on Francimar Barroso at the promotion's upcoming UFC Fight Night 43 event on June 7, 2014, at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
UFC announced the pairing earlier today.
Cummins (4-1), of course, was made famous as the lamb to Daniel Cormier's slaughter at the UFC 170 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this year. "Durkin" left his coffee-house career behind to throw hands against "DC," but was unable to pull off the upset.
He gets a mulligan after stepping in for Rashad Evans on just nine days notice.
Barroso (16-4) is also coming off a loss in his most recent outing, a split-decision defeat to Hans Stringer earlier this month in Brazil. The loss put "Bodao" at 1-1 inside the Octagon after a successful debut against Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 163 last August.
Who ya' got?
UFC Fight Night 43 in Albuquerque will be headlined by former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson as he tries to stay alive in the 155-pound title hunt against surging division prospect Rustam Khabilov. In the co-main event, lightweight lunatic Diego Sanchez gets busy opposite Ross Pearson.
